BALL FAMILY
My connection with the BALL family begins c1794 with the birth of James BALL.
He married 9 March 1819 at St Helen's Sharnford, Elizabeth LORD (widow) nee HAINES.
James died 26 August 1850 at Leire;Elizabeth died 31 December 1850 and was buried at Leire.












































Their son William was baptised 23 March 1820 at Sharnford.
William married Catherine JOHNSON 23 December 1840. The marriage was registered at Lutterworth (Vol 15 page 209 in English marriage records)
They had eleven children,all born Leire.

Jane Harriett bap 2 September 1845 (my great-great-Grandmother)
James William bap 1847-buried 25 November 1847
Thomas bap 1 April 1849-buried 14 March 1851

James & Thomas (twins) bap 5 May 1851
Catherine bap 2 February 1852
Clara Louisa and Alfred (twins) bap 16 February 1855.

























William, Catherine and their surviving children arrived in Nelson,New Zealand on "Palmyra" 26 March 1858.

31 January 1861, at Nelson by Rev Turton,Thomas SCAIFE of Hull, Yorkshire, Purser of steamer "Airedale" to Mary Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr Wiulliam BALL.
4 August 1864 by Rev W KIRK, Mr John JOHNSTON to Jane Harriet, third daughter of Mr William BALL, Washington Valley.
9 November 1874 at Wesleyan Chapel, Hardy St by Rev Buddle, Edward BURNETT to Catherine, fourth daughter of Mr William BALL of Nelson.

1882 Freeholders of New Zealand, William BALL, carpenter of Nelson property valued at 220 pounds.
